This recommended red wine is made from 100% Plavac Mali, an indigenous Croatian grape variety.
Plavac Mali is known to be a cross between Zinfandel (Primitivo) and Dobričić, another indigenous Croatian variety.
The adorable donkey on the label is a symbol of the region. It dates back to a time when donkeys were used to transport grapes because carts could not access the steep vineyards.
Grapes grown on sun-drenched, steep slopes produce a wine with concentrated fruit flavors and a robust structure.
