<How to Make Falafel>
- Place the dough in a bowl.
- Add an equal amount of water, mix well, and let sit for 2 hours.
- Roll the dough into slightly flat balls.
(Wet your hands with water before rolling to make the balls smoother.
If the dough is loose and difficult to roll by hand, you can also scoop it up with a large spoon and drop it into the oil.)
- Deep-fry in oil until golden brown.
- Serve with vegetables such as lettuce and tomatoes, or tahina sauce (a white sesame sauce).
<How to Make Tahina Sauce>
1/2 cup tahina (white sesame paste)
1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
A pinch of salt
Optional:
A pinch of grated garlic
Chopped parsley to taste
A pinch of cumin
Combine the ingredients and mix well with a whisk.
Taste and add water if the consistency is too thick.
In addition to falafel, this refreshing sauce pairs perfectly with grilled meats, fish, fried foods, and vegetable sticks.
In the Middle East, particularly Egypt, this sauce is an essential ingredient in both everyday cooking and entertaining.
