The Vaucoupin Premier Cru vineyards are made up of Kimmeridgian (Late Jurassic) limestone soil, typical of Chablis. This soil gives the wine its distinctive sharp minerality and firm acidity.
The taste is typical of Chablis, very dry and crisp. It features aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers, as well as a rich minerality, resulting in a very elegant finish.
It pairs well with seafood, especially oysters, sushi, and white fish dishes, making it a recommended pairing.
Founded by Louis and Catherine Poitout, this relatively new wine producer is based in the Chablis region of Burgundy, France. Owning a rare plot of franc-de-pied (own-root) vines, they produce highly distinctive white wines made primarily from 100% Chardonnay while respecting the Chablis terroir.
